Of the four seasons, summer is the most popular for RV camping as many people like going outside and enjoying the warm weather. Of course, if the weather gets too warm things can start to be a bit uncomfortable. That’s why your friends at JR Motors have created this guide to keeping cool during your summer RV camping trip.

Utilize Your Location

While you won’t always have your choice of RV campsites, you should work within your limits to find a place that will be as cool as possible. Get a feel for the local wind patterns and try to orient things so that the breeze blows through your camper’s windows. Install screens in your RV’s windows so you can open them without inviting insects inside. If possible, park near some trees to provide natural shade. If there are no trees in the area, put up an awning or tarp to create your own.

Optimize Your RV

Cleaning out the filters in your RV’s cooling system will help the system run more efficiently. You’ll be able to make your RV cooler without expending more energy. You can also install insulating covers on your RV’s windows to help keep the sun out. If your RV has a skylight, be sure to cover it as well!

Electronics

Electronic devices are often one of the biggest sources of heat inside your RV. Occasionally inspect built-in appliances like the fridge and clean them as necessary. Try to avoid using personal electronic devices such as televisions and laptops during the hottest part of the day.
